This piece is in black sumi-e ink on a 11" x 17" piece of 150 lb French-made Canson Illustration Paper. It was the first time I used this paper--which I now use for just about everything--and I wanted to do something with a lot of delicate washes to test out its coated surface--the ink wash ended up making some interesting smoke-like patterns on it. The theme was part of an art challenge some artists were holding, of drawing one of your characters as the embodiment of a season of the year.
