Added 1 new A* page:It's Wednesday and that means one of my favorite pieces of original art from the A* archives goes up for sale! This week I went through *all* my remaining ink pages and found 18 I thought were really peppy—so that's how many of these ink artwork sales are left. It may sound like a lot now, but once we're done with them, that's it for the special ink sales!
Okay so with just 18 to go, we have for sale the 16" x 6.75" ink illustration I made for A* episode 18, page 54, in which the Major approaches Selenis all Terminator-like in his armored exoskeleton on the surface of a fatal planetoid, in the middle of a pocket of space crackling with charged particles. It's all there in sharp black and white—in particular, the cross-hatching on the Major's armor may be my most successful cross-hatching ever. And that's what's up for sale at a special low opening bid price, for just one week only, right here on eBay.

Added 1 new A* page:NASA is making raw image data from its Juno Jupiter probe available to the public, and the public is responding by piecing the data together into some really spectacular images, including a big enhanced-color view of Jupiter's light and dark bands of clouds in this article on NASA's site. The exquisitely detailed tendrils of twisting and churning storms across the giant planet's cloud tops almost look like fractal imagery. Spectacular!

Added 1 new A* page:The page 62 I posted yesterday was actually my second attempt; the first version had come out in a more cartoony style:
The cartoonishness ended up annoying me so much that I just had to start over from scratch, even though it was pretty late in the day by that time—so I had to hurry, but fortunately the layout I wanted to go with—which had actually been my initial idea—was fairly simple (cheating on one eye helped :"P).
In my attempts at realistic artwork, less is usually more, so hopefully this will serve as a lesson to me to put in the up-front time of figuring out how to boil a scene down to its essential elements, rather than indulging my drawing hand in its love of easy loops, exaggerated lines, and frivolous, often downright silly details! ; )
(And having thought about it later, maybe part of what annoyed me about it was that the original version was quite similar to an encounter Selenis had with a large individual back in episode 16; also, there a few pages later I managed a more realistic look which, at the time, I was sort of at a loss for how to return to. But I think it tends to come down to having a strong profile and sense of directional lighting; I definitely struggle more in scenes where I haven't quite figured out the lighting.)

Added 1 new A* page:It's Wednesday and that means I put an especially nifty page of original art from the A* archives up for sale at a special low price! This week's piece is the 17" x 7.5" ink wash illustration behind episode 16, page 5—that's right, it's the page right after last week's sale piece! ="]—and I think the bestest close-up I have left of Selenis in her short, black hair and leather jacket disguise. It's on sale at auction for the next week right here on eBay!

It is signed rather elaborately with a snazzy metallic pen because this is one we used to show off in a fancy frame at art shows here in Seattle. : )

Added 1 new A* page:In my quest for global conquest, I already put A* comics up on I four mirror sites...so what's one more? A reader on Patreon suggested I put it on Line Webtoon, and I'd considered that site before, and their vertical scrolling scheme (very similar to Tapas', which is one of my other mirrors...) isn't ideal for A*, but what the heck—I'm nothing if not suggestible. So if you needed another place to subscribe to A*, you can now do it on Line Webtoon.

Added 1 new A* page:A plumber and gardeners were holding a surprise party around my apartment while I was trying to paint this, so that's my excuse for why the colors came out a little extra funky. Also the drawing was maybe a little troublesome but no it was definitely other people just doing their jobs' fault, yep!
