Ah, the old arrow-through-the-hat gag--never gets old. >_>

This began in my head as "When Firefighters Go Bad," but I thought maybe slightly more extenuating circumstances were in order.

You can now follow One Off on Twitter. I also had some comic ideas pop into my head in the shower today--I've kind of had a block as far as One Off went--so maybe I'll try to scribble some new One's Off (har) soon!

These two seem to have been inspired by Nedroid's "bad comics," although his are much badder than mine!

Well I've been thinking for a while that I wanted to bust out of the one-panel-gag format that was scaring the bejeezus out of me. Then this popped into my head for a completely unrelated reason and I drew it and then figured heck, might as well use this as the first "format-free" One Off. I'm also thinking if I ever just do fun neat drawings or whatever I might stick them in One Off as well. YES IT IS A COMIC DUMPING GROUNDS!

Yep, it's total self-indulgence now!

Doing these in GIMP now, 's quicker. Also after being inspired by

1) lack of sleep
2) catching up on Kate Beaton's stuff
3) trying to cook

I thought I'd try my hand at the sketchy sort of auto-biographical strip that's so popular in the online with the kids these days. And man, I can see why: it's WAY easier to do these than to come up with a stand-alone joke! Like, way.

Anyway I did three of these, so I'll dole the other two out over the next few days, whee. They get a bit better in execution; was too cruddy on the lettering in this first one, and I should'a used a heavier line for the drawing, too. Dohhh well one day I will screw up less maybe!
