Five single-panel "Far Side"-style jokes popped into my head this morning while I was trying to sleep. The natural thing to do in that situation, I think, is to create a once-in-a-while, one panel, one-liner comic for them to inhabit. And so here we are. I have no idea if other jokes will ever pop into my head (this hadn't been a regular occurrence!), but I've got five for now at any rate, and these days that's more than enough to launch a comic.

The prints of any One Off comic that you can order via the "buy hand-signed print" link in the menu above them come on glossy 8.5"x11" cardstock, and are signed by me in shiny metallic ink (I didn't inhale) before I ship them off to you. - the comic! It seems to me that this one must have been a Far Side or some other comic, because otherwise I can't account for it popping into my head...although come to think of it I did visit my folks this past weekend, and mom kept trying to add zucchini to my omelet. Yech!

The blank space under the comic is a subtitle space, most of them will probably have words or a quote down there. Any other Far Side layout tricks I can steal? Hmm...

Subtle one here, watch out! :P Poor Murph.

I'm thinking these may come in handy as morning warm-up exercises, since the fear of putting stylus to empty digital canvas often causes me to waste time procrastinating on the Internet anyway. Besides which, the first drawing of the day is often a little rough, and the art in these matters far less than the joke; yesterday's drawing was pretty horrid, in fact. Och.

Hey, these are pretty good. Keep 'em coming.

Wait a minute - is that the same Murphy from Robocop? That does kinda look like Peter Weller, doesn't it?

Heh I thought like one in four cops was supposed to be named "Murphy." :D You always need a Murphy around.

Hadn't intended "Rex" to look so much like a priest originally, but that's just the way the drawing seemed to want to come out.

So much drama on superhero teams today.

Ooh that reminds me, anyone see the news about Disney agreeing to buy Marvel Comics? Maybe we'll get, like, Spider-Man & Mickey Mouse team-ups now. =p

Okay, nerdy scientist antics, check. What other Far Side subjects do I still need to borrow? Oh, cows. Hm... What do I know that's funny about cows...
