"What's the opening music from? Very dark and moody, nice spare and industrial feeling to it, too. It might be a little too light when he's pulling the gun on Mar."
The first few tracks up through and including the gun pull are:
"Tonight the Comedian Died" - Watchmen Score
"Midnight Shadow" - Metal Gear Solid 4
"Only Two Names Remain" - Watchmen Score
"At Dawn" - Metal Gear Solid 4
"The cut back to Mar from the freighter exploding is a little abrupt, could maybe use more of a fade-in? Or a longer white-out."
Ah, I actually forgot to include a fade-in. Good catch, considering that this version of the video is only 15 frames per second.
"Also seems like it could use a switch in music at that point."
I'll consider it. I wanted to try and use as much of each track as possible in this version, but I suppose that isn't a realistic goal.
"It's interesting seeing the video go directly from the end of ep 1 to the start of ep 2, that also seems a little abrupt, I guess because without the episode break in between we wonder where the heck those darn guards appeared from!"
My plan is to have a door woosh and some gun clicks immediately after "one for me" - the idea being that they charged in during his inner monologue :p.
"The jump from Vero having Barny knock him out while leaving Metropole to waking up in Sal's ship seems to work a lot better."
Glad you think so, I was a bit worried about this. I thought about spacing out the flashbacks differently, having at least some of it between those two scenes
"Moving Selenis' scene with her computer to after Vero leaves Sal is an interesting choice! Dramatically it might work pretty well, I guess... It's messing with my head because for me the big travel time lapse took place before Sal picked Vero up, whereas by comparison the start of episode 5 comes relatively soon after the end of episode 4, but of course that's all sort of loosey-goosey anyway, I avoid naming exact times whenever possible so I can't get nailed down to exact facts. :D"
I might restore Selenis's scene to the end of episode 2, then.
"Ooh I also like the music as Selenis' ship is bearing down on Sal. The action bits (like Selenis moving her stick and then her ship dodging) will probably animate by much faster than what you've got here, alas."
I assumed as much. That music is just placeholder stuff, anyway - I won't be finishing this version for some time... and my rescored version of episode 5 will sound completely different. At any rate, that track is...
"Confrontation", from Metal Gear Solid 4
