Some one told me about in the date of Mayan prophecy (December 2012 if i remember well), the center of the milky way is aligned with the earth, and we all know what there is in the center of the milky way... :)

Anyone knows more?

The Galactic Center is seen in the constellation Sagittarius (the black hole's full name is "Sagittarius A*") from Earth. Sagittarius is best viewed from the southern hemisphere; it doesn't get fully visible above the atmosphere/horizon further north than 44 degrees N latitude; Seattle is at 47 degrees N, so that means I can't see the whole thing, even if I got out of the city smog and light pollution.

Those Mayans, on the other hand, had good viewing. I wonder what "aligned" means in this context? Maybe they calculated it would be directly overhead at that time.

Find Sagittarius in the Night Sky

Smart Rare is smart. :D
Personally, I don't think anything will happen at all, as for the Mayans, I just reckon that they couldn't be bothered to carry on with the calender seeing as it goes on pretty much forever. ^_^
