Page 41 Just a good old-fashioned dance battle. I finally bumped the file name/dates up to Sundays; they'd been on Saturdays because it's Saturday evening when I start drawing them, but I never finish until Sunday morning, and I've been going with "updates Sundays" officially for a few weeks now. So anyway that's why this latest one is dated eight days after the previous, instead of 7.

It was an exceptionally productive weekend for me on PatG because my brain, instead of letting me sleep after uploading the latest page, decided it was the perfect time to take all the more or less vague story ideas floating around inside it, and organize them into a fairly detailed story outline--of princes and pashas, captivities and escapes, wizards and romance, and oh yes a certain princess and giant--that should take us through the next year or two of the comic, if it stays at its weekly update rate. In my head, it looks like it will be pretty fun!

Page 43 In case you're wondering what this looks like upside-down--that is, with the Princess rightside-up--I've made a turned around version for you.

The Princess usually has Mondays off, but today she made a guest appearance on Nothing Happened Today. So *that's* how she unwinds from her stressful Sunday adventures!

Page 45 Oof, this one was a fight. I started out wanting to do a semi-cartoonish Princess pouting in the cell after being captured by that hideous gang seen in the previous strip, but then I think I was running up against the limitations of my shortcutting lasso style in rendering properly rounded and stretchy cartoonish expressions, and parts started coming out in a darker, more realistic style; but this was also taking a while and somehow the usual inverted borders and hatchings and little squiggles I would have used to give detail to edges and surfaces didn't want to come out decently, so in order to finish the thing I started swallowing up tiny details into big chunks of darkness, and the background came out really really abstract. A slideshow animation of the horrific struggle: I think it came out okay... Toward the end I was thinking that I won't be able to go back to a more cartoonish style after this--which wouldn't really bother me!--but my "style" is so inconsistent that I figure I probably will one way or the other, whether or not I want to. :o My dad's evaluation: "It looks French."

Stealth edits to the above made last night (I often do this when something in the drawing keeps bothering me and I don't figure it out until days later): shortened (her) right forearm, shrunk (her) left side of head. I wonder if some day I'll actually upload one that I'm not bothered with later. ;)

Page 46 Dynamic prison knot tying! Bonus stuff: First version of this pose, decided the straight side view was too boring: Just starting to flesh out the final view, notice it was initially turned away more so we were seeing her almost directly from behind. This probably would have been better for the figure--when she started turning more sideways I ran into predictable trouble with the proportion of the legs, since they were no longer as foreshortened--but I wanted to get a side view of her mouth in, and I guess also this way--turned a bit more to the side as in the final one, I mean--her hips/shoulders are twisted harder and her figure is bowed more for a somewhat more energetic pose. I still kind of miss that more extreme foreshortening, but ah.

Stealth edit so far: finally bothered to lengthen the legs properly to account for the less foreshortened angle. Gar. EDIT: Twice. EDITzz: lots of little stuff. Must stop! :P EDIT: Nope, also renamed the file because I'd slipped back to my Saturday rather than Sunday dating. So I broke the old page URL if you had it bookmarked. Awesome!
