I may or may not add a recap of episode 1 to episode 2, depending on running time and amount of exposition. Anyway, I'm not sure what kind of music I want to use for it. I'm going to upload a video containing a few versions, so please, let me know what you think best fits. Of course, I could wind up using something completely different, but I'd like to get a feel for what you all enjoy.

Uploaded.

I'm partial to using Version 1, since I used the same music for Episode 1's title.

I wonder if it could be done with just music and images--no subtitles, speech, and maybe only a few actual animations, like the pistol-whip one.

Anyway, I think there are a few parts of these you could drop: the Tempus 477 bit, and Mar's "Treban" line. That way you're throwing less non-crucial data at the viewer, who has to take this all in very quickly. And the "assassination" animation seems to pop abruptly as it starts--that one for instance you could just take one frame, and fade in/out.

It's interesting to think about what you could really boil the episode down to--what's the minimum that would convey the main thrust of the story without words (neither subtitles nor voiceover)? For instance, although it leaves a lot of detail out, does the viewer need to know more than this to get into episode 2:

- on a space station
- a guy pulls a gun on another guy
- can't shoot him
- knocks him out
- calls for an attack on the station
- of two missiles

Of course, once episode 2 arrives (>_>) you'll have a much better idea of the minimum info you'd need to include.

Hm, your "previously on" text reminds me that I don't think I've mentioned the fonts I use in A*. They are:

- Trebuchet (subtitles, "supermassive black hole" title text, credits)
- OCR A Extended (computer text)
- Georgia (the large "A*" title text)

The Trebuchet and Georgia I use are licensed versions, but the "MS" versions included with Windows are pretty much identical, which is quite convenient for designing a web site that matches the look of the comic. ;]

Thanks for the font list, that's definately going to come in handy.

Well, looks like I won't be able to include it after all... I might not even be able to fit v.o. credits, for that matter. Darn 10 minute limit...

Oh, does YouTube have a 10 minute limit?

I know Newgrounds has a 10 *MB* limit. =P I had to spend extra time cutting frames here and there to fit episode 2 in.

Yeah, unless you paid for a Director account with them before they discontinued that a few years back, you're stuck to 10 minutes and 1 gigabyte. Luckily, it would seem that "10 minutes" really means "less than 11 minutes". So I should be able to sneak in a 10:59 version, counting my extra end credits. Even then, I had to omit the "featuring music from" section (and the Killer7 music) to make that fit.

Ohh. Well, you could always break it up into two parts I suppose.

So long as the episodes don't break the 10:59 mark, that shouldn't be necessary. Thanks for the option, though.
