| | | Swarmed by tiny AI, not having Jump is weird, and the extendo-leg wake-up attack the bosses have is so urgh! But it's fast and colorful and there's a 30-credit cheat (hold Select+R+L while hitting Reset and waiting through the title screen) that takes the stress of running out of single-life continues out of the thing, thank goodness. The main game's last level is a lot like the one in Double Dragon II on Game Boy (see entry 886)! |

| | | Kunio guy Yoshihisa Kishimoto directed the home version--but not the arcade version. Maybe it was his idea to put a Double Dragon NES-style mode B fighting game in. ^ _^ Home version, even SFC, omits the blood spray on certain hits (ground pound, head knock, etc). Wikipedia says the US home version even removes blood from the story portraits (story segments added in home version; also home version removes various things, like boss rush at end, and weapons to pick up). "Super Difficulty Level" cheat from GameFAQs: "On controller 2, hold A+B+L+R and reset the game, and release the buttons when the title screen appears." (I bound all four to a single keyboard k (H) in Mesen. 'p' Once you've done the input as instructed, if you check the OPTION screen, it'll say "SUPER" for difficulty. There's also a 30 credits (each credit is one life, so the game just refers to Credits rather than Lives) cheat code that I used before ("On controller 2, Hold L , R and Select and reset the game, and release the buttons when the title screen appears)--but https://gamehacking.org/game/42572 has "Infinite Credits by BigBossman" ("7E1464:09"; I had to remove the colon to get Mesen to accept it 'p') so I'll probably just use that. |

| | | | But there's a gang boss rush added as a fifth stage (says Wikipedia); but the "crime boss" (at the end? but not "Martha," who is established "as the leader of the gangs early on instead"--by those added cutscenes) is missing. |

| | | | I'm not entirely comfortable with the representations of some characters in the game. Think I'll sell it. |
| | | | Think I'll unload Double Dragon Advance as well. Seems like I haven't clicked with any game Technos Japan game Kishimoto and/or Shinichi Saito weren't in on from the start (I'm not counting Saito doing background art on Combatribes 'p'). |
| | | | Oh yeah let's add "Return of Double Dragon" to that unloadening while I'm at it. (Also I was already planning to sell Technos Japan's SFC "Funaki Masakatsu Hybrid Wrestler: Tougi Denshou" (see entry 1535) (along with my other wrestling games).) |
