From Steam. Free demo. Super-hard-type stick figure platformer with really inventive levels. You can play with infinite lives and you can place a respawn point whenever you're standing on solid ground. Chill tunes.

Got to a stage after the last stage listed in level select in the demo, saved, quit, started again, and it crashes on Continue with

Other similar crashes in demo and full game reported in the game's Steam forum bug thread, with the dev saying they were working on an immediate fix--in 2022, then not posting again. Hm.

Supposedly Love 3 contains all the stages from the previous 2 games.

Well, the full version is $7 (from $10) in the Steam winter sale. I suppose I'll try it.

Playing the "LOVE 1+2+3 Remastered" campaign in LOVE 3, from Steam, on PC!

A precision platformer with immaculate single-button control--just regular jumping, no wall jumps, I don't think; a delightful minimalist widescreen 8-bit aesthetic with thoughtful details like animated meters built into the platforms that show the recycle time of animating hazards; really inventive platforming challenges, almost a new one with each level; a new chill electronic tune for each level; and the friendly central gimmick of being able to place your respawn point on any solid, hazard-free (the respawn point is as vulnerable as you!) piece of ground, so (combined with the infinite lives setting, my only way to play haha) you get to challenge the stages mostly in nice little bite-sized chunks.

Just wish there was more of it--just under 1 hour play has put me 24% of the way through the LOVE 1+2+3 Remastered campaign. So ~64 stages total (all stages from the previous games plus the new LOVE 3 stages). The developer, Fred Wood, has seemingly moved on to working on a somewhat more conventional precision platformer, Mort's Dream Jump--there's a demo on Steam--and also Deltarune.

I'll just have to enjoy LOVE while it lasts. : ) (MAYBE if I manage to clear the campaign--and possibly the two earlier versions of the first LOVE, also included here, which have slightly different challenges) I'll be able to groove on chained random stage select in ENDLESS LOVE mode?)

Game author Fred Wood was part of a game podcast called "The Bancast." It's seemingly been deleted, but archive.org has a couple handfuls of episodes preserved: https://web.archive.org/web/20200513095555/https://thebancast.com/

Also, his YouTube channel, which is named after the podcast, has some Bancast-related video episodes:

Man James Bennett's music in these games has been so good, so chill!

New track for each stage! (This is why there can't be tons of the game--must take a lot of brain work to come up with a great new music and platforming idea for each stage!!)

Man I could swear the music is synced with the animations in some of the stages. Having such a good time here.

(There's a repeating track in the SONIC 1 OST called "The Lost Sonic Level.")

My Jump button kept dying! And wouldn't work again until I moved the arcade stick to the side. I'm playing via Steam Input so eh I guess it's probably something to do with that, although I didn't have this issue last time. : P Anyway maybe I'll try pad next time, my silly old shoulder didn't seem to want to relax for this precisioning on the stick anyway. ; P

Kind of this funky art deco look to some of the pixel art. ^ _^

The LOVE 3 stages and the creator's the two "LOVE Custom" stages

LOVE 3 was the start of this "should I play platformers?" kick of mine that began just after Xmas--and led to other genres too like driving, beat em ups (redux), and arcade action--so this is the bookend as it's the last platformer I had left in my "TO DO" list to get through. ^_ ^ (Although I think I'm going to take another crack at beating Rastan Saga in a bit but that's gonna be part of a whole 'nother series of episodes...!)

My progress through all LOVE 2 stages in the LOVE1/2/3 Remastered campaign from last time was lost because I picked EXIT at the end instead of SAVE AND QUIT, and the game apparently has no autosave of your progress. BAD. ; PPPP

But you can pick each game to play through separately so I just picked the LOVE 3 campaign on its own this time.

The game also doesn't give any indication when you've cleared a stage or any of the various playthroughs, it looks like, unless you've done it in TIME ATTACK mode. That's not super great.

Anyway, cool levels, still a really fun platformer, maybe the one I vibe with best due in no small part to its central mechanic being basically a type of save state spam--and I do enjoy me some save stating. ; D

Woods' two LOVE Custom stages are more on the masochistic side and I'm glad the regular campaign stages aren't like that, in fact the game's main stages show great restraint and I think judgment in terms of their difficulty.

I continue to enjoy James Bennett's music tracks in these stages. Two got claimed for YouTube revenue sharing with an entity that has his name on it...so I guess I'm okay with that. Could discourage people from making more videos of the game, though.

Whoa copyright claims just now popped up on some music tracks in that last video, sheesh. Removed those tracks.

for a 5-minute segment starting at 1:07:32. Sharing applies in Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam. @jamesbennettmusic⁩ is the composer of the music in LOVE 3; looks like he assigned management of the rights to this company Screenwave Media Games and now they're enforcing claims on videos using his music. = p I cut the segment.

Oops that was on video 1964, not 1745.

(That's specifically https://www.youtube.com/@jamesbennettmusic - from the UK, as far as I can tell; I think there's a different James Bennett musician who's Australian and uses that same handle on various other web sites.)
