Playing through Mighty Final Fight for the Famicom in Mesen as the default character, Cody!

The 8-bit art and sounds are great, the music is pretty good, the action is super responsive. But you gotta fight Sodom three times, and it's worse every time! He crushes across the screen almost instantly and knocks you down. Uugh. So a lot of the game I like moment to moment but thinking back about it...man I can't say I'm tempted to make myself fight Sodom three more times again, you know? Dang.

I used an infinite lives cheat in Mesen. ; D

Oh, Cody's last name is Travers.

Somehow the game is WAY more fun as Haggar. ^ _^_^ Hm according to a FAQ https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/nes/587459-mighty-final-fight/faqs/19498 I didn't even see his piledriver, I don't think (grab enemy, A to jump, then B); and didn't really grok his head butt (grab enemy, then B--up to three times--without pressing a direction--that would do a suplex) also, I'd forgotten that unlike Guy and Cody, Haggar starts at character level 3--although I'm not sure exactly how much difference that makes, but maybe it means he's a little more satisfying to use at the start.

Haggar can get a Mario-in-Donkey-Kong-style hammer! Or "mallet," if you like. (Cody gets a knife and Guy gets shuriken, the FAQ says.) But you lose the hammer the first or second time you're knocked down, so usually I picked it up and managed to get hit immediately before I even got to smack anyone with it. ;_ ;

The special move Haggar gets at level 4 is the same input as Cody's--hit the attack button VERY soon after pressing left or right--with the same delayed execution speed, so again very tricky to use--but can catch an opponent and do a combo on them.

Figured out a bit of the spacing and timing for the repeated Sodom kill mode boss fight (ie get as far away as possible, jump and land on him as he dashes across), got a bit more bearable, I dare say even SORT of interesting.

Forgot what to do on the final boss, finally worked out you gotta be patient and wait for him to crack up. ; D

Mighty is so much more fun--and the graphics and sound are so much better done--than Final Fight 2 on the Super Famicom, which came out the month BEFORE. ^ D^

Excessive hit spark. 8=o

^ The hit sparks are about half the size of the tiny characters; that combined with the flickering of the characters is making this a bit hard on the ol' eyes.

The hit sparks are part of the character sprites and use their colors, so Cody's, white with blue-t-shirt-shading edges, is the worst; Haggar's white with green edges isn't quite as bad, and he doesn't fire attacks as rapid-fire; rapid-fire Guy's is actually the least glaring, as it's flesh-colored--but even so, against a dark background, there's still a flash-bulb effect, particularly when the spark is farther away from the similarly-colored player character body, like on a jump kick.

So I guess I'm hoping someone some day makes a romhack that removes the hit flashes. ; D Or some day I magically am no longer at all photosensitive. 'p'

Anyway I can't seem to interest myself in selling the cart, so whatever. (Like I'm keeping the SFC Final Fight 2 cart? ; D) It's cute! I should do a proper scan of it some time.
