| | | Starting out in Ninja Gaiden II for NES, played in Mesen with Infinite Lives and Infinite Time (that cheat, SXVKLTVG, wasn't in Mesen--got it from https://gamehacking.org/game/30422). The smooth action of the first game is impeded by boring writing and enemy designs, and obnoxious stage hazards such as wall-crawling, fireball-firing slimes, and entire stages of fighting against alternating wind or water currents, or lightning flashes. = P And the early stage graphics are more simplistic, although they do get a bit better later. |

| | | Oh yeah forgot to mention the flickering ghost ninja followers who make everything hard to see--including the overly frequent ambushers from behind. : P |
| | | The masochistically hard bosses are kind of the best part of this 'cause with save scumming it's just a matter of picking your way through which is actually kind of fun in a funny way. Stuff like the slippery ice stage and the part with walls in front of your view is not so fun--and the nearly non-stop multi-directional ambushes! Urgh. The worst part is the story, it just gets more and more hackneyed, yikes! |

| | | III has a floaty jump. : P I think if I do play this one again I'll try avoiding the "option" ninja powerups--probably by save-scumming. A no-flicker run! ^ _^ |

| | | | Of all the platformers I tried in my "maybe I should get into platformers" kick this year, this is the only one I keep thinking about. = ooo |
| | | | ^ Wait what was I thinking about with that "thinking about" comment?!? The first game was the only one I kept thinking about, not this one! = PPP |
| | | | Wasn't it? = oo I mean, I guess I can't swear to what I was thinking that long (over a year ; D, sooo long ; DD) ago, but at least in this past year it was the 1st game. ; P |

| | | 2:17 - playing 13:11 - wind & spiders 'p' 24:20 - lightning ;PP 42:12 - harmless boss 1 53:04 - pushy water ;ppp 59:22 - harmless boss 2 1:10:58 - ice stage 2:20:31 - ending 2:25:21 - credits 2:28:28 - wrap! I didn't mind the silly story as much as I did when I last played through it like 2 years ago, even though it becomes just an outright rehash of the first game, and yeah it's probably way cheaper with the spawns and stuff than the first game, and the three awful physical gimmick stages in the first half are awful (wind that pushes you, lightning that blinds you, water that pushes you) (the ice stage in the 2nd half isn't really bad at all, go figure!), and the strobing FX in the end boss cinematics are obnoxious and go on way too long...but you know maybe the part I like least is those darn flickery ninja ghost powerups I wanted to avoid for the sake of my eyeballs, so I had to 2nd-guess every single pick-up item! ; PPPP So yeah maybe I'll just stick to the first game. 8P |

| | | ^ 2:09:15 - flashing cinematic segments start Ended up with a migraine this morning--could be related to all that flashing on my brain a day and a half ago, so this goes on the $1 sale pile for my eBay. 'p' |
