| | | When my ancient Dell OEM mouse (see entry 1941) stopped being able to hold clicks after about two years of being pulled out of the cupboard, and my body rejected the new basic Logitech mouse (see entry 1940) with which I tried to replace it, I got scared, scoured through the reviews at https://www.rtings.com/mouse/reviews/best/by-type/wired , and shelled out for a high-end gaming mouse, the DeathAdder V3--going for the one that a) looked more like a basic mouse (just two big buttons & wheel, no weird angles/flanges, no lights) b) had a goodly size to it, in contrast to the Logitech, and c) might have good ergonomics (I've read like YouTube comments of hardcore mouse gamers referring to it as an "ergo mouse").
Fortunately, it seems to have worked out, and I kind of just took to this one naturally. Sometimes accidentally hit one of the two side (thumb?) buttons, which is kind of annoying; I could deactivate them if I reinstalled Razer's software but eh. I did try messing with the various sensitivity and polling rate settings in the Razer software...but it seemed like the default settings worked best for me in desktop and Photoshop use, which is all I'm using it for.
I could just about swear it's also helped me with general computer ergonomics, but that's hard to be sure about so I'll just settle for this half-hearted allegation.
Like the all-black color, the soft cord, the loud solid clicks (scared me at first but now they're reassuring somehow). |

| | | | This WIRED mouse still shows up as a Bluetooth connection in Windows' "Bluetooth & devices > Devices" window, under "Input." If I remove the entry for it, it continues to operate--although the movement speed suddenly increased until I unplugged it and plugged it back in, at which point the pointer moved at the usual slower speed, and it still didn't show up under Bluetooth devices. Several minutes later, though, its entry had reappeared in the Bluetooth devices list. ; D |

Ah hm mine was on firmware 1.01.00, I downloaded Razer's firmware updater app and it updated (over USB, I *think*--it said to plug it in and showed a USB port illustration) to firmware 1.02.00. I did that because I found out of date firmware mentioned here https://www.reddit.com/r/razer/comments/13iaqvs/using_a_razer_wireless_mouse_wired_does_it_still/ as possibly the source of a problem for the wireless version of the mouse, where the workaround had been unplugging and replugging it--like I've had to do with mine occasionally to reset the movement speed.
In the Windows Bluetooth devices list, if I turn the mouse over so the laser is pointing up, the Razer DeathAdder V3 Bluetooth entry reports "Driver error," then briefly disappears from the list, at which point the mouse stops moving--then it reappears in the list without the error and works again. = o
Sometimes I wake up the computer and the mouse doesn't move, and it takes some moving the mouse around to get it to respond, seemingly--or if that doesn't work, unplugging and replugging it. This has SEEMED related to a buildup of dirt/crud on the mousing area of the tabletop; when I cleaned the tabletop--and wiped off the bottom of the mouse--weeks went by before the mouse-not-waking-up thing happened again.
I've looked in Device Manager to see if I can prevent Windows from like shutting down the USB port or something to save power, but they're all showing unchecked boxes for turning off to save power.

Ah okay maybe I needed to do that for the "USB Root Hub" entries under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" in Device Manager https://www.quora.com/My-USB-mouse-keeps-reconnecting-and-disconnecting-randomly-What-should-I-do -- I've done that for both the USB Root Hub entries there, we'll see if that helps. |

| | | The entry for the Razer DeathAdder V3 (not sure where exactly in Device Manager it is, I found by clicking through various properties buttons from its entry in ehhh Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers) ALSO had the "Allow computer to turn off to save power" or whatever Power Management tab box checked! So that could have been a problem... I'd really just like to find a way to turn off its bluetooth radio, though. : PPP
Supposedly you can reset it by holding Left Mouse, Right Mouse, and Scrollwheel down together for 7 seconds, not sure how to tell that does anything though. ... In fact I don't think it is doing anything because the DPI light underneath doesn't change. What if I hold THAT button down... Ah, that made it blink three times. Eh okay. |

| | | Found the DeathAdder unresponsive and completely removed from HID section of Device Manager after I'd been using the DualSense for Steam Dark Souls Remastered for 3-ish hours. Had to unplug and replug the mouse to get it working again. Does still have the "allow computer to turn off" box left unchecked in Device Manager, at least.
But gave in and installed Razer's "Synapse" management software. Now there are TWO entries for the DeathAdder in the HID section of Device Manager, one with the "allow computer to turn off" box checked. : P It's also listed in Device Manager under "Mice and other pointing devices"; not sure it was there before...but probably was. ("Allow computer to turn off" is unchecked and grayed-out there.) |

| | | | Even with Synapse in, the mouse stopped responding when I plugged in my Wacom tablet--on just plug'n'play; had to be replugged after removing the tablet. So not high hopes for it regaining control after DualSense even with Synapse. : P |

| | | | After a few mini episodes where the mouse would stop responding for a few seconds, this morning the mouse just plain stopped working a few minutes after I got in the computer, and even replugging didn't get the mouse working again. I was on the verge of uninstalling Synapse, but its uninstall/repair program that came up said there was an update available...so I downloaded that, replugged the mouse yet again...and it's working. | | | Haven't yet had a full-on operation cut since updating the driver, but have had an instance where there were multiple seconds-long pauses in mouse operation after waking up the computer.
Have unchecked the "allow the computer to shut turn this off to save power" box on the other instance of the mouse under HID in Device Manager, maybe that'll clear those up. 'p' |

Press DPI button on bottom of mouse to cycle DPI (not sure this still works--doesn't without Synapse installed, anyway--just stays red):
400 DPI - red
800 DPI - green
1600 DPI (default) - blue
3200 DPI - cyan
6400 DPI - yellow
Hold DPI button 5 seconds to toggle 1000 (default - blinking green) / 8000 (blinking red) polling rate (this works without Synapse).

Did "Uninstall" on the Razer DeathAdder entry in Device Manager, rebooted, it was back but so far responding okay. Had to uncheck "Allow computer to turn off" again. Under "Events," it notes "Device settings not migrated": "due to partial or ambiguous device match." |

When I finally found it in Windows 11's "Devices and Printers" window--searching this from Start menu doesn't work, and clicking "Devices and Printers" in Control Panel doesn't work--that opens "Bluetooth & devices" instead(!) ; D--no, you have to right-click "Devices and Printers" in Control Panel and select "Open" ; PPP--under the Hardware tab in Razer DeathAdderV3's Properties window, it shows two HID Keyboard Device, 1 HID-compliant consumer control device, 2 HID-compliant device, 1 HID-compliant mouse, 1 HID-compliant system controller, 1 Razer DeathAdder V3, 1 USB Composite Device, and 2 USB Input Device--those will all appear separately in Device Manager. : P
In DM I right-clicked and uninstalled and checked try to uninstall driver as well; this seemed to work and I could still control the pointer with the mouse--then after some seconds it began stopping and starting, which lasted for what seemed like 5 minutes or so--I think maybe it was re-initializing all those components--while this was happening, could see it get a yellow "!" not connected marker in Devices and Printers panel.
Finally did a power down, wait, power up. Stable for now... |

| | | This started up against after I'd unplugged and then reconnected the mouse's USB cable. There were two or three Razer DeathAdderV3 entries were under "Hidden" devices in Device Manager. Removing them all / driver (sandwiched around trying installing and uninstalling Synapse again, which didn't solve the problem) seems to have stabilized things again.
Noticed that it's stable in the OTHER USB port on that side of the laptop--just goes in and out sometimes on the more central port that's the one I actually want to use. I wonder if the Razer drivers try drawing more power than is readily available. |

| | | | Ah the input rate or whatever--one that corresponds to the colored lights--that is set when Synapse is uninstalled has a huge effect on the subsequent overall movement rate in Windows; setting it down to red light (lowest polling or whatnot) in Synapse results in a too-slow max speed in Windows. So this last time I left it on the third one--blue or green, I forget--before uninstalling; now I have a better range of speed in the Windows Mouse settings. |

| | | | The speed (colored lights) and polling rate settings in Synapse affect Windows mouse speed after Synapse is uninstalled; they also affect pointer speed when using the touchpad on my wifi keyboard--so I have to make sure that's roughly usable too. ; ) It was too slow last time, so set Windows pointer speed to middle (10), do yet another Synapse reinstall, set Razer speed to 2 (800) and polling rate to 3 (1000) for a reasonable speed, uninstall Synapse, set Windows pointer speed to 12: seems usable. |
