| | | This was the first mic I tried for gaming--I had it left over from a previous webcomic video project--and it worked well enough--dead-simple set-up--but being a stand-along mic rather than a headset or clip-on, I had to project my voice and that resulted in somewhat echo-y audio in my hard-walled little apartment, for instance
Plus you can't just whisper into it intimately as I've come to like to do since then. : P Although when I did try that last night in a quick test it seemed like yeah that doesn't result in as much echo, nor does it require much if any artificial gain to be applied--too bad I can't just strap this to the front of my face somehow, but that would be a bit heavy, this snowball-sized orb thing. There's a switch on the back that I think alters the condenser's pick-up pattern, maybe; kinda forget how that worked out in practice. I used to put up various cloth and cardboard blockades over and around the mic to try to minimize the echo. (After this I switched to a dynamic handheld mic--a Sennheiser E945--on a boom, which gave clearer audio--but eventually resulted in neck strain from having to hold my head steady in front of the mic.) |
