| | | https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/ColecoVision_emulators isn't high on blueMSX but Google's darn page-top "AI" search thingy mentioned it as one of the applicable "libretro cores" in its praise of "batocera" (Linus mini gaming OS thing) not needing a ColecoVision BIOS file for ColecoVision emulation. ; P The other core it praised for this was Gearcoleco and I know the standalone of that--see entry 2019--DOES need the BIOS, so I was pretty skeptical about blueMSX. The site http://bluemsx.msxblue.com/download.html dates its most recent version as being from 2009. It's primarily an MSX emulator and says it has its own "C-BIOS is an alternative and freeware BIOS for the MSX system" so maybe that's where Google AI has gotten confused--because for ColecoVision, the site's same "resource" page http://bluemsx.msxblue.com/resource.html points you to a download that has an 8KB coleco.rom in it. Which is exactly what a pirated ColecoVision BIOS file looks like. Oops. So yeah blueMSX probably needs the BIOS. ; P ; |

| | | There's also openMSX https://openmsx.org/ which gametechwiki recommends more. Both can use C-BIOS https://sourceforge.net/projects/cbios/ which does appear to be from-scratch. Three problems: 1) No games that are grabbing me 2) The games look kinda pricey on eBay 3) The Sanni MSX adapter ( https://savethehero.builders/collections/cartridge-adapters/products/atari-adapter-adapterのコピー ) doesn't support the official Sanni firmware, I guess I'd have to flash it with the developer's build 'p' |
