The actual golfing UI is remarkably chilled out and not too flashy or in your face. The aim indicator is super tiny but I guess you learn to spot it. 'p' There's some depth I think(?) to figuring out how far shots will roll based on club face and surface and stuff, and how much a sloped green will eat into shot power. And it's mouse-interface only but I didn't really mind it for the actual golfing (the incredibly busy MMO interface OUTSIDE the golfing is pretty much the opposite, mind you ; P), aside I guess from having to left-click the ball to start the swing meter, but also having to right-click the same ball to set your impact point, which I kept accidentally doing as a left-click, starting the swing instead, d-argh.
So actually the golfing seemed pretty decent on the noob course? Could change on a rougher course that would show the physics more. There was that funky bit where I thought I'd chosen a short enough club to get over the lip of a slope but then oh well I probably shouldn't have tried to set a low impact point, I suppose that could be what made the shot hit the lip and roll backwards into the bunker hah. ; D
Yeah it's trying to push virtual golf power drugs and clothes presumably leading to microtransaction addiction on me, and the one live player I found was there to try rather aggressively--or, well, with polite and seemingly helpful but quite single-minded persistence, at least--recruiting me to his guild (they said they'd been playing for 17 years! that would put them not too far really from the game's launch point in 2004), but uh as long as I can pop in and get a round started before anyone else can jump in, I could be giving this another go. |
