Incredibly cute and sudsy platformer in which you play a little, uh... brown thing, hopping along through giant kitchen levels filled with gushing tap water, stacks of dishes, vicious serrated knives and tin cans, valuable vegetables, dangerous soap bubbles and so forth.

The gameplay gimmick here is spin: during a jump you can press up or down to start your dude spinning forward or back. Then when next you press Jump, he'll either launch himself way straight up (backspin) or a long way forward (front spin).

And of course there's plenty of call to use the spin jumps. The levels quickly get nefarious (I'm still on world 1--I suck), where one mis-step can spell at least re-working your way back through the level, and at worst you land on some nasty sharp can lids and it's back to the last restore point for you!

The graphics and sound in this game are really something special. The kitchen (well okay the first world since that's all I've seen) abounds in color, animation and music. You don't often see a 2D platformer this cute and gorgeous, it's really too bad.

Lots of Sonic similarities like a spin dash, chutes, and little pinball flippers as interacting vertical gates.

The CD-ROM's volume label is "KITCHINPANICK." = P

Awkward controls, pretty but mundane graphics, big shapeless, super-repetitive-feeling levels, dull enemies, unintuitive--to my dumb head--bosses, and I'm just not into collecting all the stew pots. (And anyway isn't that a rather cannibalistic thing for an anthropomorphic potato to be doing?)

Finally had to stop after nearly passing out from ennui in the slippy-slidey ice kitchen. x Px
