"S3DAGE" acronym may be a play on "SAGE"; the hack came out of the Sonic Hacking Contest ( https://info.sonicretro.org/Sonic_the_Hedgehog_Hacking_Contest ) which for its first two years occurred "alongside the Sonic Amateur Games Expo."
