Added 1 new A* page:A recent NASA article shows a new composite X-ray and radio view of the galactic center, revealing what they call "threads" of ionized gas stretched out by powerful magnetic fields.
"Such strips may have formed when magnetic fields aligned in different directions, collided, and became twisted around each other in a process called magnetic reconnection." "The image shows that the magnetic threads tend to occur at the outer boundaries of the large plumes of hot gas. This suggests that the gas in the plumes is driving magnetic fields that collide to create the threads."
The labeled version of the image points out major features of the core, including the location of radio source Sagittarius A*, our galaxy's central supermassive black hole. The "threads," marked with red boxes, are each about 20 light years long.

Added 1 new A* page:I got the shivers! I didn't get nearly as sore a shoulder with my second vaccine shot yesterday as I did with the first, but just before bed I found myself just shivering nearly uncontrollably. Ten minutes or so of blasting the heater took care of most of it.

Added 1 new A* page:My route to the hospital today to get my second Moderna COVID-19 shot, lengthened a half-mile by the massive road maintenance project that for months now has closed the one road going directly over the hill from DT to the hospital/strip-mall area on the city's southern boundary, takes me, in the last three blocks, past three national pharmacy chains, all three of which, since my first shot at the hospital, have started offering "walk-in appointments"—whatever that means exactly—for COVID-19 vaccine shots: Safeway has Moderna, the county's health page doesn't know what Walmart has, and Rite-Aid has the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Pretty good for a rural city with a permanent population of about 10,000—plus 20K college kids outside of summer months and pandemics.
