Worked on page today. Gonna have to finish it up on Thursday—I'm off tomorrow for the 3rd of 4 deep cleaning dental sessions. = O (After one Monday...and they actually called me today to try to get me in 3 times this week. Gonna have to tell them two per week is my max, sheesh. There's only so many tranq shots to the gums I wanna take in a given 7 day period. :PP)

An ESO study found the closest known pair of supermassive black holes to Earth—and they're also the closest known supermassive black holes to each other: the two cores in galaxy NGC 7727, 89 million light years from Earth (closer than the previous known pair at 470 million), the result of an apparent collision of two galaxies, are only 1600 light years apart; they're predicted to merge "probably within the next 250 million years."
For more details on the finding, see this thread by study lead @KarinaVoggel, who mentions for instance that the supermassive black holes were detected and their masses established by directly measuring the speed of stars moving around them—this is how the supermassive black hole Sgr A* at the center of our own galaxy was shown to exist; it's a method, I suppose, that wouldn't be available to use on supermassive black holes farther away, where our telescopes couldn't pick out the motion of individual stars around them.

Today's page is the third of four that are one inch narrower than my usual 16" page width because I just cut the darned $paper$ wrong. :"P
Meanwhile, NASA just launched the DART impactor—a drifting box in space with a camera—and a novel ion thruster for escaping high Earth orbit that it ended up not needing—to see if they can alter the orbit of a small asteroid around a larger asteroid very very slightly as a test for one day saving the Earth from some hypothetical—we hope :P—future killer asteroid.

Added 1 new A* page:Got my Moderna COVID-19 vaccine booster on Sunday (a day technically to soon to have the CDC advisory committee ACIP's sign-off yet, according to the pharmacist—but nobody seems to know they exist; I sure didn't!); deltoid is maybe almost ready to stop being sore. ; )
Today's page art is the second of four here that will be just 15" wide instead of my usual 16"—because I cut the Very Expensive Paper wrong. : P

I'm not going to get a new A* page done today. On the plus side, I've found a way to work at the computer without aggravating my shoulder, for the first time in 8 years or so. :) Also, I'm off *tomorrow* as well, for a dental cleaning they just today told me I had! And I'll have two days of more cleanings right after Thanksgiving; these are long walks across town at various times of day so I pretty much just have to give them their days rather than trying to work and stress around them. So, sort of like extra holidays but with bright lights and pointy things in my face! (& A 4th they're still scheduling.)

Support confirmed that with eBay's mobile app alone, there's no way to create auctions that will not auto-relist 8 times. So yes they've intentionally made their app deceptive and partially useless. She said the app is "for buyers." Translation: I can't actually use it for selling because they made it intentionally screwy. Back to listing through their site, then. : ppp Just silly.

Added 1 new A* page:I've been trying to list the daily new A* page art auctions using eBay's mobile app, but it turns out that if you use the app, the auctions are automatically set to relist themselves...automatically...eight times! Bleh. Wanted to be able to use the app to take a break from the keyboard, but maybe they've just decided to make the app not worth listing with; I'll have to contact support in the morning to see if they can make it work the way I need it to—ie, not auto-relisting without my telling it to!

Added 1 new A* page:In order to save my sanity I'm cutting the number of sites I have to update for A* each day from 11 to a mere 6; getting the chop are the four comic reader sites where I've been mirroring the comic, and Facebook. Many thanks to all the wonderful readers and contributors I've had on those sites! But I've just *got* to consolidate my efforts. I'll still be on Twitter, on tumblr, and on Instagram—and of course right here on smbhax.com!
