That's the night side of the planet Venus, captured from 7,693 miles away by NASA's Parker Solar Probe on July 11th, 2020 during its third of seven passes for gravity assist, moving closer to the Sun.
Aside from the planet, what struck me in the image are the many streaks that appear to be shooting past—like you might see in, well, a science fiction spaceflight scene. Of the streaks, NASA says they're "typically caused by a combination of charged particles — called cosmic rays — sunlight reflected by grains of space dust, and particles of material expelled from the spacecraft's structures after impact with those dust grains. The number of streaks varies along the orbit or when the spacecraft is traveling at different speeds."
With the streaks, the black and white, and the blurry look of the planet due to the thick, even cloud cover, the photo makes me think of an old space serial like Flash Gordon, where the planet would be a painted foam ball hanging from fishing wire. ^_^

Added 1 new A* page:"For only the second time, astronomers have linked an elusive particle called a high-energy neutrino to an object outside our galaxy." Both sources have been black holes: the first was a supermassive black hole powering an active galactic nucleus with a jet pointing right at Earth (a "blazar"); the latest is thought to have come from a 30 million solar mass supermassive black hole tearing apart a star: NASA article.

Added 1 new A* page:Stomping around in the snow today, I measured about 16" of snow—by forearm—on top of a stack of wooden palettes—pretty good considering probably all but 2" of that was from this last single storm. Darn these polar vortices! 2nd one we've had in the three winters I've been here in Easter WA; the first one stuck around for the entire month of Feb, though, so this latest is (forecast to be) a mere passing fancy by comparison—thank goodness!
Although this time, whoever plowed one of the main roads through town just shot the snow right up onto the sidewalks, so instead of the sidewalks getting plowed, they're just covered with extra-deep, kinda icky snow. Was deep going for a little way! :P

Added 1 new A* page:I kept drawing and erasing this page today because I'd find the eye wasn't in the correct spot. Finally a relatively sharp take on it appeared and all seemed well, but it was late and I wasn't brave so I didn't check the layout in the mirror—until afterward, when I realized the eye was yet again out of the technically correct position, in more or less the same way, yet again.
This is of course all an excuse but it strikes me that maybe my subconscious is doing this on purpose because something about it just seems more dramatic or pleasing to me somehow. And you couldn't do it if there was another eye there, because everything would instantly look weird; which also could explain why, in my backwards way, I have trouble drawing both eyes. :P
Anyway have you ever seen faces from an angle? They look weird. It's true. Fortunately, in a drawing I can cheat and make it look all right. . )

May have scorched the synapses a bit much on an earlier puzzler over the dialogue: at first I thought it was too bad that "anthropoid android" didn't quite work, but then I thought maybe just "anthropoid" and its unspoken similarity to "android" is better anyway.
