| | | ROM dumped from Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection (entry 2077).
I've played through the game in Sonic Origins (entry 1716) but now I'd be inclined just to play the original ROM in Mednafen--except that it wouldn't have the spin dash, so if say you lose momentum on a slope, you have to struggle to get back up to speed, which is awful. 'p'
There's a ROMhack that supposedly puts spin dash in but says it's missing part of the usual spin dash animation or something? I tried it--although I did try a music-swap romhack with my Sonic 2 dumped ROM and that just returned an error screen in Mednafen so my confidence that romhacks will work with the SUGC roms is low.

AHA! It works with the "Rev 1" version (not the Rev 0 version) of the Sonic 1 Jammed romhack (https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/8023/) which adds the Sonic Jam (Sega Saturn) spin dash and other optional tweaks. : ) |
