I eh let myself get totally obsessed in trying to compile fresh, purely text-based versions of old hardcore dungeon crawling adventure games. : P Some like the Dante's Inferno-flavored "Hellband" needed some bug-fixes to their source code first; the kitchen-sink fantasy-flavored "Frogcomposband" only needed a little file hack (I hope), hurrah! Programmer backwardsEric of the ongoing fantasy game from which these are derived, Angband, helped me (that's putting it mildly, given that he's the one who actually knows what he's doing!) troubleshoot some of this stuff, but finally there was one remaining we couldn't resolve ourselves—"Hengband," an intensely developed Japanese variant—and had to settle for filing detailed reports on it with that team's developers, so hopefully they can fix whatever's still going on there so their game can be compiled and played on Linux-like terminal systems. : )
