image by NASA, ESA, CSA, Jupiter ERS Team; image processing by Ricardo Hueso (UPV/EHU) and Judy Schmidt NASA posted a couple composite, false-color photos of Jupiter taken by their new Webb infrared space telescope; its infrared resolving power easily captures fine detail of the gas giant's auroras, as well as, in this wider shot, several moons (the white pinpoints left of Jupiter's equator), and the planet's faint rings. In fact, the telescope is so powerful that even light diffracting from the various bright features in this—by Webb's cosmic standards—short range view is picked up, creating glowing noise in the image. ~~~~ Pencils for the next A* page are done—painting tomorrow!
