Didn't get to the drawing board today—ended up spending half of Sunday going down a site back-end-tinkering rabbit hole, and was then kept up nearly half the night by an epic plot twist for next episode that decided to ambush me right as I lay down to sleep!

The site work was kicked off by Google sending me a page indexing report complaining about how I make their site-crawling spider trip over a lot of duplicate URLs 'cause some old "www" and "http" (not https) links were managing to creep out of my giant old news archive, and I was using a different addressing method to shortcut from the site's front page back into the news archive (basically having the comic script say hey I'm too important to spend time looking up where the next news article is, YOU figure it out, news archive script!). Poor Google! Well I took pity on it and cleaned all that stuff up.

Actually the thing that took an embarrassing amount of time because I had to figure out the specific order of operations that I came up with ages and ages ago had to do with a "9999" page/episode number shortcut notation the comic script accepts, which will redirect to the latest episode/page/both. Well, Google's spider stumbled into an old link I'd put in a news article shortcutting to the 9999'd last page of episode 9—an episode that has now been archived, and no longer exists in the comic reader. Turns out, when trying to redirect to a non-existent page, the script just put your browser into an incessant redirect loop to the phantom page. Oop! Poor spider. Well eventually I realized I just had to tell the "oh this comic page in the URL doesn't exist" part of the script to say also "and cancel any redirect action, too!" Whee! : P

Anyway the next A* story arc after this one should be some rampaging high adventure...once I actually get some darn pages done! (And I'm gonna be out for a cross-town dental cleaning on Thursday. = p)
